After 4 years of grueling Carnegie work and sweat, the Class of 2014 now has two valedictorians: Timothy Messen and Amanda Larsen.
Larsen is a dedicated member of the National Honor Society, the Girls’ Soccer Team, the Carnegie Gay-Straight Alliance and the CVHS chapter of Junior Statesmen of America. She is set to attend Wesleyan University in Connecticut in the upcoming fall and will study biology. Larsen attended T.H. Rogers Middle School before coming to Carnegie. She was recognized as a National Merit Finalist and enjoys playing soccer and tutoring other students in her free time.
Messen, who also attended T.H. Rogers, enjoys to run, cook and read Russian literature in his spare time. He is set to attend Dartmouth University this fall and hopes to study either French, linguistics, or biochemistry. Messen has been recognized for his achievements in Greek, French and debate competitions throughout his years at Carnegie. Additionally, Messen placed first out of all runners in his age group at this year’s Houston Marathon.
We hope these students shine in their future endeavors and we wish them all the best in college!
